With our historic rail bus, you can cross the border to the German Vetschau on the old railway line towards Aachen. The Simpelveld station has a station buffet, built in the cozy style of the 20's, a store with many original steam train souvenirs and a nice museum with an exceptional collection of model railroad trains from many countries and ages. You can also visit the workshop of the locomotives or one of the famous signal boxes.
Maastricht is less then an hour away by car and presents itself as the capital of the province of Limburg. The city has a long history which is reflected in the historical city center, with its in Roman and other styles built churches and the many small squares. Discover the historic buildings and monuments of the city! or don't miss the hustle and bustle of the downtown. Climb to the Mount St Pieter, from here you can enjoy the wonderful view over the city and the Meuse valley. One of the most popular places in town is the Vrijthof. The German city of Aachen is famous by Charles the Great and for its delicious 'Aachener Printen'. The 2000 years old emperor city presents itself as a cosmopolitan metropolis with a historical flair. The cathedral treasury is one of the most important church treasuries of Europe and is the unique collection of the history of the Aachen Cathedral. Worth a visit is the Gothic town hall, the facade of the royal coronation in Aachen. Around the cathedral and the Town Hall is the historic Old Town which is lovingly restored. The Belgian city of Lüttich is the cultural center of Wallonia and the capital of the same-named province. The city now has the largest inland port in Europe.
